The Biray Festival is an annual cultural and religious event held every June 1st in the municipality of Belison, located in the province of Antique, Philippines. The festival honours the town’s patroness, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and reflects Belison’s deep-rooted connection to its coastal and fishing traditions.
The term “biray” refers to a small traditional boat, symbolising the town’s maritime heritage. A central highlight of the festival is the fluvial parade, where a revered image of the Virgin Mary is carried on a decorated boat along the coastline. This procession is accompanied by a fleet of local fishing boats, with community members participating in prayers and hymns, seeking blessings for safety and abundance.
In addition to the religious observances, the festival features various community activities, including street dancing, cultural presentations, and local food fairs.
