Easter Monday

While Easter Sunday is widely celebrated in the Philippines with vibrant church services, family feasts, and joyful traditions like Salubong, Easter Monday is a much quieter day. It’s not a public holiday, and for most Filipinos, it marks the return to regular life after the solemn and celebratory days of Holy Week.

Though not officially recognised by the Church as a major feast day, Easter Monday is still part of the Octave of Easter, the eight days of celebration following Jesus’ resurrection. For devout Catholics, it’s a time to reflect on the meaning of Easter and carry the message of hope and renewal into everyday life.

In some rural areas, small community gatherings or extended family meals may continue, especially if people are still on vacation or visiting their hometowns. For those working or returning to school, it’s a gentle transition—a day to start the week with gratitude and a renewed spirit.
